Iranian ‘The Recess’ to vie at Calzada filmfest

Iranian short film ‘The Recess’ has been selected to compete at the 8th edition of the International Calzada Film Festival in Spain.

Directed by Navid Nikkhah Azad, the short film is about a student who aims to escape school with the help of her friends.

‘The Recess’ has competed at more than 20 international festivals in Turkey, Chile, Canada, the US, etc.

The title has previously grabbed the best short film award at the 24th edition of the Johns Hopkins Film Festival in the US and the best short film award at the Oxford Film Festival in the US.

The short’s cast includes Mojan Kordi, Reyhaneh Nabeean, Niloufar Shokouhinia, and Ghazal Khalili.

The Spanish Festival “wants to transmit educational values, solidarity, tolerance and equality ​​for the construction of a better society and a better world”.

The upcoming edition of the International Calzada Film Festival of Calatrava will be held on August 6-21, 2021.
